Awesome filter
Maintenance is a breeze so long as you read the instructions and lube the parts with the provided lube and do not use a 6' pipe wrench like Cris probably used as you do not have to tighten all that much if you do you are only asking for problems ! Water comes out Crystal clear and beautiful

Don't waste your time money or sanity.
This isn't as bad as the lifegard mechanical filter, only because it doesn't need servicing as often. These might be great filters but maintenance is a nightmare! If you don't anchor the modules somehow ie to a block of wood or even to your floor the torque effect while trying to unscrew the top cap will loosen or break the PVC glue holding the modules together. Yep 30gallons of water in seconds when it broke apart!I decided to get out my old Fluval 406's run them in series and it worked! I don't turn them on; I run them with a rio 3100 pushing water and a RioPlus 180 Aqua Pump pulling water. No noise it all seems to be running smoothly. getting 310 gph through a TMC FSB 1500, TMC Vecton 600 25watt Level 2 UV-C, 2 fluval 406 canistersI have the Mechanical and chemical double filters. These are impossible to service, when it becomes clogged, and it doesn't take long for that to happen. If you don't have it extremely secure at both bases to the floor or some kind of anchor and the connection between the 2 isn't 100% secure it will come apart. Emptied 30gallons from my tank in seconds. After dealing with that, I still couldn't get the top cap off without using a crowbar and hammer! These are going back! Since I had a powerhead for the lifegard system that never really got going. One time with the maintenance was enough. I turned 2 old Fluval 406's into module canister filters powered by a Rio 3100.Samething just different look and 1000Xs easier to maintain.

Three Stars
Clogs easy, I don't like the fact you can't see if the product inside is or isn't moving.

Great for the price
quite large, but can serve many alternative uses which is how I use most that I've purchased.
