Pennington 601907 Netless Seed Starter Mat, 39-Inch by 18-Feet

I used Pennington starter grass seed to start with. scruffed it into the soil. put the mat over the area going bald. used the sprinkler twice daily for 50 minutes each time.mat lifted because of wind one day, staked that area down. NO birds dining! 21days later grass is matching the rest of yard! very happy! when it rains it pours! front yard service line/ clay drain pipe blew! plumber sodded his work area. more bare spots! it worked in the back yard. should work in the front? mowed back yard prior to seeding/ matting. Good luck!

Not woth the money no impregnated seed old grass clippings or staw is much better Save your money

I have used this product before when it was available in my local Home Depot store. It holds the seed in place when on a hill. It is also good for flat areas, for after the grass comes up through it, a lawnmower will not suck up the seed and soil mulch when you run the mower over its placement with staples in place. The mat turns brown as it disintegrates but I have found that it stays in place for years holding ground soil in place.

Bought this because grass wouldn't grow on my wife's cemetery plot. Loosened up the soil, sowed seed & turf builder, stomped it down, covered it w/ this seed mat, and watered daily. 6 days later: Grass! Even the do-nothing grounds crew commented on how nicely the grass is coming in. Photos are a) Day 1, b) day 7, c) day 13.

Works as advertised. Curtails slope/hill erosion. Grass from sod or seed readily grows trough it. I did not need to stake it down after watering. Can be mowed over when grass needs to be mowed. Depending on fast the covered grass spreads, after 6-12 weeks the deteriorating mat will not be readily noticeable from about 10 or more feet away. Suggestion: Test a small sample of selected grass seed/sod in the area before laying down the mat.

These have always worked fabulously for helping me grow grass! I first started using them when I built my first house, complete with an empty, muddy, hilly back yard. I put them on them on the embankment to keep the seeds in place, but I wish I would have bought enough to put them everywhere, because the areas covered by these grew grass the fastest and fullest.

Holds the seeds down. Water it 2 or 3 times a day but not over soak. Use hooks to hold the matt.

Totaly happy with the product. Works as expected. I was concerned with the fact it was Netless, and if it would stay together when placed on the ground. Soak the mat with lots of water.
