American Easel 12 Inch by 24 Inch by 1 5/8 Inch Deep Cradled Painting Panel (AE1224D)

For this size, 12x24 wood with the thick sides, which I've taken a liking to, this price is about as cheap as you can get. It's raw wood so you have to prime before you paint and as a semi expert I would suggest shellac, although you might be able to get away with another primer but shellac is preferred on wood. The surface, especially compared to canvas, is so sturdy and I think that it's a superior flat surface to paint on if you're doing fluid art. I like to use too much paint and if I'm lucky it will spill down the sides the right way.

I recently got into acrylic paint pouring and this is going to help in a great way! I just received my wooden canvas and have already decided to purchase more. No sagging means no puddles of paint, it's got great durability, and I'm getting more ideas of what to paint with it. Practical and inspirational, how can you beat that?

I ordered a canvas print that I thought was on it's own frame. I ordered this to mount the canvas on to. It is built very well for the price, and it was easy to glue my canvas to it.

Good panel, my only complaint would be that the was some splintering along the surface edges that I had to sand down.

This weekend very well for my birthday sign project I did for Christmas. It was in perfect condition and looked as expected.

I put about three layers of gesso on and they were perfect very little sanding was needed.

I have been using these (diff sizes) for dioramas I have been building. They are quality made and would not think twice on ordering anything else. I have many more diorama projects I will be doing and this is the first thing that I will purchase.

Have used these panels for acrylic painting and mixed media projects, and they are my favorite. Always perfectly square, and the surfaces -- even the sides -- are very smooth. I prime with gesso before painting, and generally paint the sides black and then tape then off before i go to work on the panel. They look great unframed, but fit easily into a wall frame. Oh, and the sizes are great, with unusual extreme rectangle and square shapes.
