Great powerful monitor for the BMPCC 4k/6K
I purchased this monitor over a month ago before the BM5 II (5.2" 2,200 nits) was announced. This monitor is a powerful 2000 nits 13W. I love that the body is solid and not plastic, and that it doesn't really weigh too much on my handheld rig, even with a big battery. I purchased it together with the Nucleus nano cable so that I could use the touch screen feature to focus my cinema lenses. I have to say that with the current firmware it is a little hard to full focus manually, but it is great to use it as a programed motorized pull focus from point A to B. You can time how fast you want it to focus from those 2 marks with no hassle - way better than using the nano wheel to program the 2 focus points. I will barely use this future, but it would work great for someone doing detailed work with motion control systems. I am very excited for the announcement of the Bluetooth module that will let me control my black magic camera pocket. Most other cameras can be controlled with the cable you can purchase and use the touch screen, so once that module is released I too will be able to really use this monitor to it fullest potential. I am giving it 4 of 5 starts only because it does have a loud fan noise, but only when viewing at 2000 nits, and because I am not sure on the color calibration being 100% accurate. But for this price point this little unit is amazing! The fan noise is non existent when using the monitor on low brightness, and barely noticeable at medium brightness setting. My guess is that the low is around 500 nit, and Med is around 1,000 nits. I have used this on a hot day at the beach without an overheating problem. It does get really hot to the touch tho, but so do most bright monitors. This item is discontinued since the new release of the 2200 nit version, but all other features are the same to my understanding. The new one is 16w, rather than 13w. I would recommend this monitor to anyone looking for a 5 Inch bright and solid monitor. It even does anamorphic squeezing at any ratio, which is not always advertised on their page. Great buy for the price.
