WORKED GREAT EASY TO INSTALL
EASY TO INSTALL JUST FOLLOWTHE INSTRUCTIONS

This does in fact fit the XJ Cherokee (my 2000 anyway), but the instructions are poor.
Following the included instructions, I came to the same conclusion that others had. This does not fit. Then I took off the blend door actuator and it all made sense. You need to remove the old plastic splines and replace them with the metal piece included with this door. I created the attached guide which hopefully makes the procedure a bit more clear. Once I did that, the door worked great.Don't forget to center the temp dial between hot and cold before disassembly. This is covered in the included instructions. I did and had to go back and fix my mistake. The actuator did not move all the way.

Worked great, beats pulling dash
Worked great, beats pulling dash. I had an unemployed friend put it in and all he said was he had trouble getting the new door in the top hole.

Dorman Help Line is some of the best!
Dorman is always a life saver, much better upgraded part from the floppy thing that was in there from the factory!

ITS WORTH IT
I did my heater core before winter came and when I got it back together I realized my blend door got stuck in the hot position… found this and decided to try it since I didn’t want to remove the h-vac box again.. when it got warm and I needed a/c I got this and did it under 30min. Very simple and much worth it.

Super cheap and easy solution to pulling the HVAC case out
I had to pull the dash apart this summer to get to the HVAC box which had a leaking evaporator core. Like an idiot, i somehow forgot to put the blend door back in after I had everything apart. I found out when the cold weather hit.I found this super cheap kit and did the install in about an hour, start to finish. Despite having to cut a hole in the HVAC case, it was far more worth it than pulling everything back out again. The instructions were super clear and install was honestly pretty easy. I used a Dremel to cut a hole, a sanding block to clean the rough edges up, and included aluminum tape to seal things up. Took some finagling to get the door into the case and aligned properly, but once it was seated, everything went back together with no troubleIt works perfectly and now my girlfriend's TJ has serviceable heat and AC again!

Didn't fit
The part would not work in my cherokee. The end that goes into the blend door motor was completely different from what my Jeep has

Outstanding
I was ready to take the whole dash and steering column out but this came with instructions to cut a hole in the heater box so a three day job turned into a 1/2 hour project

Fits 2001 Jeep Wrangler TJ 4.0L
Update August 2021:Still works like a champ. It's held up through winters and summers and falls and springs. Works as well as the day I installed it.Amazon says this doesn't fit the Jeep I have - that's wrong. It's a perfect fit. It seems pretty good manufacturing quality, and the tolerances are very tight (that's a good thing) and I managed to install it with some jiggery-pokery. Initially it was binding at the top of the plenum when I was calibrating it, but I backed off the actuator and it works fine now.I did add some lithium grease to the pivot points; this is essential (silicon, lithium, anything that will tolerate heat and not damage ABS and foam). The new axle is aluminum which is *much* better than the original PVC (mine had broken along the lower axle). The instructions (which are included) call for the addition of a nylon washer at the lower pivot point. It's not included, but there isn't room for one anyway. I added one, and it pushed the length of the axle beyond what would function when assembled. Believe me, you do NOT want to have to install-adjust-uninstall-adjust ad infinitum like I had to in order to find that out. The actuator has plenty of torque and, with the lithium grease, it operates very smoothly without the washer. I don't think it's bearing that much weight, certainly not enough for me to worry about it.The repair I did went in through the HVAC plenum. After the door was successfully installed I cut out a replacement panel using a plastic engine oil container (that way I knew it would withstand oil). The repair kit includes a good length of aluminum duct tape which was enough to cover both sides of the panel and generously fix it in place over the plenum. Not that anyone is going to looking in there, but the job looked clean and well done. The tape is very sticky and has firmly held everything in place for the last 5 days with constant use of the hot & cold air.So; I can recommend this. It fits my 2001 Jeep TJ, but I have no idea if there is a definitive guide to sizing and models, so proceed with optimistic caution. Now that the awful job of cutting into the plenum, retrieving the broken old one and installing and calibrating the new one is done, I am very pleased with the result.
