I have been using this for years. It is pricy, but worth every penny. Do your own water test….Put your hand in the pond. After adding SAB, then put your hand in the water. Your fish will stay healthy and pond maintenance will be easier.

I've used this product for many years to rid my Koi pond of string algae and it's effect if used properly and with regular simmer and filter cleaning.

This product is impossible to over-dose unless you dump the whole tub into the pond. I like it because it is chemical free. Can you have too many benefical bacteria in your pond? I doubt it. It works well and the 7 lb tub should last me several seasons. It's getting close to the time when I need to start dosing the pond with this (several big doses initially, with smaller regular doses throughout the rest of the spring/summer) and it really helps to get rid of the accumulated muck in the spring,and keep it manageable throughout the rest of the pond season.

I've used SAB since it first came on the market before Aquascape bought it. The original formula was superb. After Aquascape aquired String Algae Buster they apparently changed the formula. It does not work as well, about 75 to 85% as effective on string algae as the original String Algae Buster. It's still better than other products on the market but not a great value. I have two ponds of my own for 14 years, 480 gal and 2500 gal and I manage a 55,000 gal water feature. Wish I could get my hands on the original SAB.

The tub that the granules are in leaked into the outer box which leaked all over my car seat. Not sure how much I lost but it was a mess.

The product itself works well. However, I found it very very difficult to open the tub. Once opened, it does not now close properly. It really needs to be redesigned to be more customer friendly.

The first time I used it, last of year, it seemed to work better than this year.

My pond turned murky after a long string of hot days and nights. Nothing I was doing helped until I tried this product. A day later the pond was substantially cleaner, and after a second application a week later the water was perfectly clear and I could see to the rocks at the bottom.

It doesn't work as well as expected, but it has been a very hot summer this year. Maybe when it cools down, the chemical will work better.
