Lomi responded with an easy fix, and now they are 5 star.
Contacting Lomi is impossible. We loved our lomi for one year and then it stopped working. No lights, no motor, no nothing. We have tried contacting Lomi and none of the methods let us through. we have the serial number, model, and even the order number, but no luck.Update: I now have a response from Lomi, so let's see what they can do when I get to a place in the queue where I might talk to a tech. We got a great response from Lomi and instructions for an easy fix. We still love our Lomi and customer service was right on our case, finally.

Love my Lomi
I absolutely love my Lomi! So easy to use, and I’m utilizing my kitchen scraps to put compost into my garden. I needed to get a replacement part still under warranty and they have been really good about communicating with me. I highly recommend this product!

Baked-on compost
I’ve been shopping on Amazon since 1995 and have purchased thousands of products over that time. I believe this is only the second negative review that I’ve ever submittedAfter careful research, I purchased a Lomi composter on December 12, 2022. The return window closed on January 31, 2023 (50 days later). This composter is a good idea and seems to be sturdily constructed. However, I think the parent company (Pela) put this item on the market before working out all of the kinks. There are a variety of problems with this product, only one of which will I describe here. When we received our Lomi composter, we read the instruction manual carefully and followed all of the included instructions. Initially, the composter worked as advertised, and we were very pleased. However, a few months after we began using our Lomi, we found that composted kitchen waste was baked onto the bottom of the bucket (see attached picture). This happens about once every three or four times we use the composter.Sometimes, this baked-on compost is thick enough that it jams the rotor. More often, the rotor will still turn. Sometimes, I can carefully remove the baked-on compost with a plastic tool (again, see the attached photo). Other times, I have to soak it out (thus, rehydrating what I’ve just paid to dehydrate); the consequent swelling can also jam the rotor. The only other person I know who has a Lomi composter has reported experiencing the same problem.I don’t know what causes this problem. However, I’ve noticed that after the light comes on to indicate that the Lomi is cooling, the light indicating that the Lomi is drying remains on. If the machine is supposed to be cooling but it’s still drying (hence, heating), maybe that could cause this problem. In any case, although I strongly support winter composting and, thus, conserving landfill space, I cannot in good conscience recommend this Lomi composter.

Works as advertised
I find I'm using this more and more. What I'm doing with my scraps might be the difference between my use and that of other users. I don't put them in the machine right away. I stick them in a plate by my window so that the morning sun will dry the food out before its placed in the lomi. I started doing that after I opened the lid and saw that not everything had turned to dirt. Now it does. If you don't have the lid completely closed, you might notice a smell when you're using it. Be sure that the lid is tightly closed on all sides. Not closed on one and lifted ever so slightly on the other side. The other day I was cleaning my lomi, and there's a part that's removable (the part that spits out the dirt) that you can take apart and the dishwasher really cleans it up nicely. So I'd taken it part and put the two pieces of that particular part in the dishwasher. Unfortunately, during that cycle, the sealing gasket (which I'd forgotten to remove) came off so when I opened the dishwasher there were three pieces instead of two. I tried unsuccessfully to try getting it back together, and then called amazon to see if I could get a replacement part for that little gasket. Lomi didn't give them an option to replace that part, so they initiated a return and were going to send me a new one. After we got off the phone, I tried again to replace it and this time it worked! I've used it successfully twice since then. I have some gaskets on order now to take care of the issue if it ever arises again. ($5.99 for 6 gasket seals). So I cancelled the return. Thanks Amazon, you've been great thruout. Didn't want to have to return it!!!Footnote: I initiated another return and thankfully I was able to cancel that one as well. The reason for the initiation? When plugged in, the Lomi wouldn't start after I pushed the button. The button wouldn't even turn it on. The customer service never made any suggestions other than to return it. When I started to take it apart to put it in a box, I found that the cord that plugs into the wall, also plugs into the lomi. I'd forgotten about that. It had worked itself out of the lomi when I turned the lomi a little bit. After I plugged it back into the lomi, it worked! Again, saving the hassle of the return. The reason for my posting that bit of information is so that if your lomi doesn't work, you check both ends of the cord to see they're both plugged in.

Amazing Machine
Great product...Until I got roaches. As a single person I couldn't fill it fast enough to run a cycle. Keeping the contents inside for longer than recommended. Gave it to my parents where they have more to feed it and more plants to use it on.

Doesn’t Last
This was great for the first year. Then it started not turning off when it was done doing its cycle. That wasn’t the end of the world, we just ran it during the day (smelly sometimes) and be able to unplug right away. Now we are near the two year mark (will be in July 2025) and the bolts in the composter are sheered off and the product is unable to work. I never would have expected it to not even make it to two years. This is very unfortunate and frustrating

A Lomi is no Balomi!
I look forward to using my Lomi composter. It is made of quality material. The noise level is minimal.
