Nice so far
Thankfully another reviewer mentioned not to use the included "Pon" for us organic gardeners, so instead I purchased some Leca and put that in the bottom instead (pictured). I've only had the plants in their new home for a day so it's too soon to see how they like it. Will update after some time. The planters feel sturdy and were easy to assemble. I love the watering area with level indicator. The color is nice too.

great for lazy waterers!
These planters are a little pricey but they are worth it as they keep my plants alive even when I forget about them. I have a lot of plants and this makes the watering job a lot more straightforward and I don't have to worry about overwatering them. Plus you can just use a watering can to fill up the reservoir instead of lugging the plants over to the sink. The red color is gorgeous. I put several shoots of the same kind of plant in mine and it works just great next to a window.I have noticed sometimes the little bobble indicator gets stuck, so it does not rise when you put more water in. To fix this just push it down or jiggle it a bit, and it should return to working. But you have to pay attention and make sure that it is rising as you add water or you could easily add too much, and then you have to tip the whole thing over carefully to let the water out without spilling your plant. The only other concern I have with them is about re-potting. When you buy a planter, it comes with proprietary gravelly stuff (Lechuza PON) which you put in first, and put regular potting soil on top. So if I were to replant it I would need to buy more of that stuff, which is a bit inconvenient.Another thing they don't mention is that it doesn't work right away, you have to keep watering normally from the top for a few months until the roots grow down far enough to pull water up.Still, all in all I think it's a good system as after you get it all set up you don't have to worry about them.

Beautiful but plastic
Looks great, although I thought it was going to be ceramic. (Probably cause my search asked for ceramic.) I learned a lot about self watering planters from the instructions. It will actually be a few months before I know how well it works, as it takes that long for the roots to grow long enough and find the water reservoir. In the meantime, I'll be watering from the top. And by the time the plant is established, the caladium which is a tuber, be going dormant! I will need to plant a perennial next time, as the plant needs a few months to establish itself in the self-watering planter. However, the soil is staying nice and moist as there is plenty of it. But I will need to water it regularly, which is what I wanted to avoid. As I said, I've learned a lot about using this style of self-watering planters. With a perennial, the planter should perform as promised.

works great
while i think it's a bit expensive for what it is, there isn't anything out there that does what this does in this size. the water level indicator and double-layer (for plants/leca and reservoir for water) are very important to me and this does them both well.the last one i've owned for about 8 months with no problems so i didn't hesitate to get another.

Fair warning to ORGANIC GARDNERS
The LECHUZA PON is a bit cryptic in description. Per LECHUZA site, it’s compromised of pumice, zeolite, light lava rocks, and these are “fully-coated, (with) premium-quality fertilizer.” This is difficult to infer given description: “LECHUZA PON...provides your plants with nutrition, and helps regulate the supply of water to your plants.“ Had I known this, I would have done what I’m doing now in terms of mixing my own washed pumice, lava rock and zeolite, since I’m purely organic and I consume the herbs that I grow.Bought this is 2018 and love it! Takes the guess work out of moisture content for plant hydration and the success of microbiology. Docked a star for the lack of a clear description and expectation here on Amazon.Instructions are not hard to understand - don’t overthink it.

No more watering
I love this planter. It works perfectly, no over watering. Soil feels great and plants look wonderful.

This is an elegant but tiny little planter. Planted some herbs for the winter window sill.
I wrote to ask about whether to keep plants in pots or to use potting soil. What was purpose of the small bag of perlite-type? To provide a bed under pots or to use as the growing medium? Non-helpful answer was "follow directions." Since planter is too small to keep plants in pots, I used other potting soil .... It remains to be seen how happy the chives and the mint will be.

Primera vez que Lechuza me decepciona
Compro Lechuza por su calidad, en esta ocasión me llegó con un defecto en la pintura y un tanto golpeada, realmente no venía protegida en la caja, la tendré que regresar
