Really does the job!
I read several of the reviews that stated that the back of the unit was unsightly, and would need baskets to cover up this design flaw. I have to agree, but with that in mind - I came up with an inexpensive and easy solution. When I got the unit, I saved the box it arrived in. I put it together easily by myself. Before I attached any portion of the back, I put the unit on the cardboard box, and traced the inside of each cubby. Finished building the unit and hung it by myself. Keep in mind that the support beam that attaches to your wall does not have any starter holes, since you will need to do a little math to figure out where you want the unit to hang on your wall in relation to where your studs in the wall are - and drill the holes accordingly. Mine came with two 4 inch wood screws to fasten the support beam to the wall. After I hung the unit, I cut out my traced pieces from the cardboard box, wrapped them with fabric I cut from a valance I bought at the local K-Mart, and pushed them into place. Looks great and does the job in my laundry/mud room!

Better then had expected
It is perfect for my mud room. I'm happy with the quality. It looks nice and the family actually uses it!!! No more coats on the backs of chairs. And everyone can find a coat quickly when needed. I should of done this years ago!!!

One of the easiest and enjoyable assembly projects I've ever had...
I've assembled a lot of items in my time and even built some furniture from scratch. Let me just say this right here and now - this was the most enjoyable and easiest assembly I've ever done.First of all, the directions were crystal clear. I can't say enough about how well they did on that end.Secondly, the parts were all solid and sturdy.Third and most importantly - if you're assembling one of these, don't skimp out - use glue to make a strong piece a *solid* piece.I'd also like to recommend that after mounting it to the wall, go the extra mile and put another screw into the top mounting piece to secure it 100% to the studs. One final note, if you get the black version, as I did, don't bother with their "deluxing" marker, just go grab your black sharpie and touch up any scratches, nicks and (this is a pro tip) the screws! Makes them practically disappear and makes your piece look very professional.

Great shelf (hanging hardware not included)
This shelf was fairly easy to put together. It took me about 20-30 minutes. The shelf went together well and it is sturdy and the color is accurate. It is necessary to follow the instructions closely to avoid a few easy mistakes. My only complaint is that if you install the shelf according to the directions, the screws you use to anchor it to the wall are visible if you don't have baskets in the cubby holes. The screws needed to attach the hanging rails to the wall were NOT included. Hanging the shelf is a 2 person job and you need a power screwdriver, a level, and screws that are 2.5-3 inches long to anchor it properly. This self is a great value for the price and looks great. The hooks on the shelf are large enough and sturdy enough to properly hang coats and backpacks.

Looks great!
The product itself was super simple to put together and my husband really liked how only one part had to be installed into the wall. I disliked that drywall screws were not included because the wood beams we had were not spaced appropriately for this. The screws were also extremely long, we ended up having to use some other ones we had on hand to avoid drilling into the concrete. The storage compartment measurements were precise - I was able to buy bins before this arrived & they fit perfectly.

Easy to put together, sturdy, works great
Bought this for the office breakroom to hang purses, coats, and store other items. It was pretty easy to put together, although it took two of us, just to hold things while the other one screwed it together. It was pretty typical of putting together shelves, furniture, etc. Similar to putting something from Ikea together. It's held up well, works great, and was easy to hang. It's sturdy on the wall with the extra hanging mount. All pieces were included. Nothing missing when we opened the box. The espresso color is nice, and there is plenty of room for storage.Only thing is some of the hooks didn't screw in exactly straight because of where the holes were placed, but other than that it all went together fine.

Get lumber exterior screws to mount to the wall studs
The shelf was easy enough to assemble. However getting it onto the walls was another matter. Not sure how well the 3 1/2" long screws worked for others, but they got stuck half way in for us.Solution was to go to Home Depot and get a few 3" Grip-Tite lumber exterior screws, and they worked great. Those aren't expensive either - 73 pcs packet for $8. And if you plan to mount other stuff, you might give them a try. This maybe very simple knowledge for those experienced with home building stuff, but if you are new to this like me, may save you some headache.

Nice addition to a small hallway and a decent price.
It was very easy to assemble and install on the wall. The quality is good but this isn't a high quality item so I expect some scratches and chipping to occur eventually. My wife swapped out the original hooks for 4 hooks of a more modern looking gold design to bump up the look. Overall we are happy with it.

With smaller entranceway closets this makes great sense.
We downsized and our hall closet was half the size of our previous one. We have large family gatherings and this has been really handy as guests come in to keep things tidy. The shelf separations are good for hats, scarfs, and mitts in winter, plenty of room to organize your front hall, plus it looks great.

Cute, love it
It's cute, sturdy and pretty heavy. I put it together but it's too heavy for our plaster wall with no beam. Looking for alternate screws for hollow wall. But if you have normal walls it would be perfectly fine.

4.7 OUT OF 5
4.7 Out of 5 because I was missing a screw for the one hook. Shelf is very sturdy, looks sharp and was relatively easy to assemble and hang. I am a mom and did it after my little one went to bed. Has helped keep us organized with skates and helmet on top shelf, winter gear in the cubbies and coats and back packs on the hooks. Best thing for a front entrance. Has been hanging for a month without any complaints. Again very sturdy!!! So happy I got it and definitely have recommended it to other moms.

expensive for cheap particle board
Disappointing. The quality of the product is just not there. The finish is chipped all along the edges and there looks like there's black marker on it in a couple of spots. Like someone used a black sharpie to cover up some chip marks? It does come with a little marker to touch up the finish which is not black, it's the proper color, so I don't know what the black markings are.It fastens to the wall via a backboard drilled through studs and then you take the shelf which also has a notch and slip that notch into the notch on the back board. Since it's made of particle that doesn't seem like it's going to be very sturdy for a long period of time. Meh. Go for solid wood. My bad.Update - Company approved my request for refund but with the condition that I pay for the shipping to return it. When I went to mail it today, I discovered it would cost almost as much to ship it back as I paid for it. Decided to just cut my losses. The shelf now lives boxed up in a dark corner of my garage.
