Mary Poppins: The Illustrated Gift Edition

This is a beautifully made hardcover book and I was so happy to discover Amazon had it.I bought this for a friend who has loved Mary Poppins since she was a little girl.I had an original Mary Poppins doll that I had given my daughters when they were little and as they are now grown and didn’t want their Barbies or Mary Poppins dolls, I “ re-gifted” Mary Poppins to my friend, along with this wonderful book!

I read PL Travers way before the Disney movie and am partial to the original sarcastic and sometimes caustic Mary Poppins with her sharp nose. This book has a gorgeous cutout in the front and the illustrations are so beautiful inside. I finally got my 7 yo interested in reading the book!! despite it being very different from the movie. The key, in this case, were the watercolor illustrations rendered throughout. A fantastic addition to my burgeoning collection of childhood classics!

I keep this book on my coffee table. It is the first reading material my company takes to read.The pictures in the book are very good and I have enjoyed reading it.

Beautiful book that can be given as a gift or kept as a keepsake.

If your children adore Mary Poppins our family highly suggests adding this illustrated copy to your shelves. If you would like to read Mary Poppins aloud to your children for the first time we recommend this copy just as much, if not more, because of the full color, detailed illustrations. This is LOVED by a three and six year old and two thirty three year old parents as well. It is a bit larger than other chapter books making it equally accessible to us all.

This book was done with the utmost high-quality, and it’s absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend.

The book itself is great. The cut out on the front cover is lovely and the illustrations are beautifully done! It’s a special gift edition I was planning to give my daughter for her birthday. HOWEVER, the packaging left a lot to be desired. It was placed in a box too large with other items so it arrived with bent corners and the front cover cut out has a tear where it likely hit other items. If you can find this book at a local bookstore buy it there. It’s too beautiful for Amazon to treat it so terribly. I’ve seen zoo animals treat their things better than Amazon treats their products.

I wanted to add a copy of a childhood favorite to my library and this one is just beautiful! Really thrilled with it!
