The Bears' Picnic

You can’t go wrong with the Bernstein bears. This was one of my kids (and my) favorites from when they were little so I bought a copy for my great grand daughter. It’s a cute story of how papa bear enthusiastically and optimistically tries to take his family on a picnic but things don’t go as well as he hoped. This is a story kids can grow up with and talk about.

I love the original Berenstain Bears books and so do my kids. They are wonderfully illustrated and the rhyme and meter are second to none. I was born and raised on these stories and I bought them for my children when they were born. "Inside, Outside, Upside Down" was the first book by daughter learned to read on her own. She is seven years old now and still loves them. These are timeless classics that you can pass on to your children and grandchildren. Buy them all now!

Personally I did not like this book. ( have a family library of 25 BB books.) First of all the Bears actually look different. The cover images are the same "soft" look of each bear family member but inside the bears have a more "prickly" look. My 3 year old granddaughter asked immediately "what happened to his face" on page one.I also did not care for the theme that both this book paints a VERY negative image of Papa bear as a bit of a buffoon and always wrong. Just an overall negative feel to this book......would not recommend.

Great book! Came in a nice hardcover with the “old School” character illustrations of the Bears, rather than what we see today. I had this growing up in the 80’s and it was the same book as I remember!

I can't count how many times we read this book with my kids- must be hundreds! They loved the rhymes and pictures. Bought it again for the grandkids.

I was able to give this favorite childhood book to another teacher. Love it!

My thirty-year-old grandson loved The Bears' Picnic when I read it to him many years ago. Since then I have made sure that my other, younger grandchildren enjoy it as much as he did. All the Berenstein Bear books are wonderful, but this is my favorite.

Not one is the best bears book I’ve read. It’s quite negative and long winded.
