Cost effective solution
Bought this for a low budget chest freezer in shed to monitor temperature and in case the power tripped and the freezer failed. Also the freezer has just a simple dial control and you don't know what the actual freezer temp is so could be wasting energy...The key thing I found is power up the sensors first and then the receiver unit, also you may need to move the receiver close enough to get a decent signal first rather than it trying to search at its limit and then place it where you want it.Our receiver sits on the kitchen window, 10m (32ft) from the sensor inside the freezer which is sat at the back of the shed with steel racking alongside it, this seems to be a safe range and pretty good considering the price. Not sure about battery life yet as we've only had it working for a few weeks. We have a Hive digital thermostat and the receiver room reading compared against that is +/- 1.5 deg so good enough for its purpose. Also it tells you what the min/max readings have been which is useful.

Warning Min/Max resets every 24 hours
Good little unit, but suffers from design flaw which causes the min and max recorded values to be reset every day. This happens approx 24 hours after batteries have been inserted into the main display unit.

Works well. 5 stars with some reservations.
This kit has just arrived and I have done preliminary testing on it. So far, so good: It works well.Firstly, do not believe any reviews that say it comes with batteries. It doesn't. You will need 2 x AAA alkaline and 4 x AA lithium (lithium if the intended use is in the freezer, otherwise alkaline).Secondly, the main unit battery compartment is hinkey and the batteries don't necessarily make a good connection first time. Also the compartment door falls off at a moment's notice. This is no real problem, though, once the batteries are installed and the unit is operating and attached to the freezer door with its 4 strong magnets.Once all batteries were installed, the device recognized the sensors within 15 seconds and even when they are in the freezer, receives a signal at least 6 metres away. I had misgivings for the range since the sensors are essentially in a metal box, but all seems to work well. Edit: The base unit if installed in the house appears to be able to receive a good signal from a sensor in the freezer in the garage around 15 metres away! Good range.Sensors: These in NO WAY look at all waterproof. The battery door fits, but there are gaps. If you put them in a fridge or freezer, I recommend at the very least to place them in a sealed plastic bag. I will seal them into "vacuum pack" plastic.I have not yet tested the alarm functions.

I'm conflicted. It works but I'm not convinced it's safe.
I'll start with a word of warning - this may be a product that wouldn't normally be allowed for sale in the UK. Please be VERY CAREFUL if placing one of the temperature sensors in your freezer. Ideally you shouldn't be running your freezer at lower than -18C but be aware that the 2xAA batteries in your sensor are likely to (at best) stop working at -20C and lower or (at worst) explode. The product looks great in the listing and unless you've got a top of the line fridge freezer with all this built-in then a countertop digital temperature readout is a major improvement over the discoloured plastic thing you've got tucked away on the back of a fridge shelf. Plus it's able to reassure you that, yes, the kitchen you are slaving away in *is* too damned hot!I got pretty much what was pictured. In a thin generic white cardboard box with no instruction leaflet which, frankly, screamed "I am a cheap knock-off of somebody else's design". Be aware you will be needing batteries. So many batteries. The display unit takes 2xAAA and the battery slot is a little fidgety to open. It's got a variety of different mounting options including what I assume are four little magnets for use on a metal but I went with the kickstand and put it on the counter. The display is large and easy to read although the plastic alarm and reset button strips feel a little cheap and tacky. The sensors are large. Think "mars bar" in a sort of grey plastic I've only previously ever seen in care homes. They take 2xAA batteries each and the compartment is easily accessible. I'm not entirely sure whether they communicate with the display via radio or Bluetooth but I found waving them in front of the display seemed to pair them. They've got pretty chunky clips on them which would suggest you can hang them off the plastic trays on the fridge door but I found that when the door was closed they were bumping up against the shelves to the point of borderline not closing the door properly... so I just threw it on the back of the top shelf. It all seems to work but batteries in the freezer is just not safe. I do also wonder exactly how watertight they are in the event of a sudden defrosting. The temperature readings are accurate but without any instructions I can only assume that I'm using it right. There's a little arrow next to each of the readings which tells you which direction the temperature is trending.Setting the alarms requires a little bit of work. You can instruct it to sound an audible alarm if any of the readings goes out of the min & max ranges. The problem is those min & max ranges are what the sensor has experienced when you set the alarm, not necessarily the range you actually want it to be. This requires a bit of forward planning.Remember this thing is on 24x7 so you'll be needing the rest of those batteries eventually.UPDATE - display unit dead after a month. Outside of return period so will just end up in landfill. Complete waste of money.

very good digital thermometer
After buying a cheep analogue thermometer a month ago which was nowhere near accurate, I decided to spend a bit more on this digital one. After reading some reviews I also made sure I purchased some lithium AA batteries for the freezer sensor. I am very happy with the sensor as it gives accurate readings of my fridge and freezer. I bought this because I was very dubious of the ability of the freezer to freeze food and this device has proven my worries were correct. In warm weather, unfortunately my freezer in the garage is incapable of keeping the temperature low enough. It's 28C out there an my freezer's internal temperature is now just -3C, so going to buy a new Beko freezer. Some people have mentioned that the screen is dim. Yes it is, you need to look slightly down on the screen as looking straight ahead is not so good.Anyway, great buy and has probably avoided my family getting food poisoning.
