Everything looks good upon first inspection. The lid was slightly open, but there was no spilled rice in the shipping box, so the contents were intact. This is going straight to my SHTF shelf. Purchased in February 2025, and it arrived with a January 2025 lot date and January 2055 "best used by date" — an impressive shelf life! Great for long-term storage and peace of mind.

When I received product. Found that lid was open with the seal still attached. Tried to close it but the lid seems to be permanently deformed. Rice was at the bottom of box. Waiting for refund or replacementUpdate: fast response and had it taken care of

Lid on product was not sealed shut. Rice spilled all over the inside of the box. What a mess.

I added this 24 pound pail of rice in October 2022 for long term storage in our cool dark basement.Today I removed the well sealed and rubber gasketed lid. Very Tight Fitting And Hard To Remove Lid...Checking for grain weevils then repack contents in FoodSaver vacuum sealed bags if qualified good...I Was Quite Surprised At The Fresh Rice Aroma That Was Present ! ALSO there's two O2 absorber packs !ZERO Grain Weevils Or Any Bugs Due To The VERY Tight Lid AND The Two Oxygen Absorber Packets...Not Sure How Anyone Can Have ANY Disagreement With The Tightly Sealed Container Provided...!PAIL IS SEALED GREAT... Will Buy More And Leave It Alone Stored In My Cool Basement Til Needed...YES, DO BUY THIS!PS. The container lid wasn't locked and rice had spilled. I called customer service twice to see what could be done and no response. So disappointed. Stuff happens and I am not mad but for them not even trying to fix it, not cool. UPDATE: I got a call from Mike from the company and he apologized and referred me to Amazon's customer service. They weren't able to replace the item but gave me a refund. Thank you!

Why I purchased: I live in California where power outages are frequent and earthquakes are always a worry. These supplies help me rest assured that I have a healthy, filling food source if there are ever any problems.How I'm using it: Purchased this along with the Augason Farms Pinto Beans bucket of the same size. Beans over rice is a very filling and nutritious meal using 2 pantry staples that can be customized in a variety of ways with different seasonings/sauces. Combining the two foods will make for a more appetizing, healthy, and filling meal that can stretch out how long the buckets last you versus trying to fill up on plain beans or plain rice alone. You could do the same thing with meat and rice however I prefer beans and rice because freeze-dried meat generally comes in smaller quantities and is more expensive.Storage: Came in nice buckets for easy storage. Be careful when lifting/opening the Amazon box though as these buckets are extremely heavy given the contents. The expiration date was true to my expectations for shelf life. Once opened, the beans must be used within 1 year.FYI1. Make sure you have a way to cook these without power in case of emergency (ex: a camping stove). These are long term storage foods not freeze-dried ready-made food/meals (which Augason Farms also sells). You cannot just pour water on them, you must cook them.2. Long Grain White Rice stores much longer than Brown Rice due to the natural oils in Brown Rice3. Augason Farms sells a similar bucket of Black Beans if you prefer that over Pinto
