Happy with this high value upgrade from my unpowered 1/2" sewer snake
Most of our house's gutter downspouts empty into 4" pvc to re-route run-off under walkways or etc.One of them backed up last winter, so I detached the downspout and tried to manually snake the 4" sewer drain to no avail.A single day's power snake rental would have cost over 1/3rd of this Vevor, with the hassle of pickup & drop-off, and the possibility of needing it for a longer rental period and of struggling with a tired, beat-up device (has happened before with other rentals, and while the vendor made it right, it was a lot of unwanted nuisance for me).Our house is long with two sewer cleanouts and many gutter downspouts, and while a manual snake usually works, I expect the Vevor to save me considerable time and effort in the future for clearing other blockages and slowdowns.Wheel assembly was quick and simple, and the overall operation seems pretty obvious if one has experience with a manual snake.Per the instructions, I started with the boring bulb and progressed from there.Tips from my experience:- I inserted a washer between the halves of the thin, two-piece arrow cutter, else I speculate that they'd have twisted and bent.- A length of 3/4" PVC pipe is a good, inexpensive investment to prevent cable kinking. Our 4" gutter drain drops vertically from just above ground level, so the distance from machine-to-drain and then down to the first under-ground turn in the pipe is long enough that the snake would be prone to winding/kinking on itself. I set the machine about 18" from the drain, and cut a length of 3/4" PVC to thread over the snake (before mounting the attachment) to encase the cable for the vertical drop and prevent kinking.- PATIENCE. This is a low-cost machine and requires gentleness. I had to govern my impulse to brute force the snake (which - as I've experience with a manual 1/2" snake that I ruined - will kink the snake). I manually advanced the snake to resistance and then knelt on the switch, ready to stop if the cable started to bind, all the while throttling my impulse to run the power continuously and jam the snake into the impediment. Maybe that would've worked, but I didn't risk it.I also resisted the impulse to stick with only one attachment to save effort and time. It was a hassle to retract the cable and change attachments, but was the right approach for a good outcome. From the lower-quality power cord, motor, frame, drive belt, etc, this is obviously an inexpensive, home-user grade device, so it requires gentler handling & more attentive care (e.g. I surmise that the drive belt will degrade and the frame rust if left in the elements). I heeded the instructions and thoroughly dried the whole cable and drum (and frame), then oiled the attachments & cable before storing. Time consuming, but with diligent use and care, I think this will prove to be a reasonably durable, high value purchase for me.I commented to my wife that I should have purchased one of these years ago.

Vevor does it again. Good coil and bits, solid perfromance. Never pay a plumber again.
Good price, works as expected. Ended up having to replace the 50ft with 100ft coil. 100ft just fits the housing, but it did make it to the street sewer and the line clog is gone. I followed this up with Roebic FRK-1LB Foaming Root Killer treatment, just to be thorough. If you never snaked a sewer line, please take note: As you feed more line into the sewer the speed will slow considerable at 50 ft. The cable rolling as it goes thru the pipe will increase contact friction thus slowing feed rates, so go steady and feed it as it can take it, you will be able to determine what the rate with you hands as you feed it . Do not force the line pushing or pulling as you can kink the line and ruin it.This paid for itself on the first use.

It was cheaper than hiring a plumber. Read and reread the instructions as it can hurt you. It easy to use I also bought extra pack of bits need more aggressive bit. Worked great@

In the End, it got the Job Done!
I’m reviewing the Vevor 50FT X 1/2inch Sewer Snake Cleaning Machine on 4 wheels with 4 cutters and foot switch for 1”-4” Pipes. ($249).Overall I’m satisfied with the product. The most important reason is that… In the end, It got the job done! The drain/ sewer line from my kitchen sink was clogged. Attempts to clear it with vinegar, baking soda & hot water failed. Attempts to clear it with hand snake with power drill attachment also failed. Figured I’d try this larger and more powerful snake since the cost was probably what a plumber would have charged. Here are some observations I’d like to share with you:-Even though you could save $40, go for this model WITH the wheels. This thing is heavy to move.- Note: This model while it is electric, does NOT have auto forward and reverse functions. I ASSUMED it did but discovered you have to advance and retract line manually. If you want auto features you have to buy a more expensive unit. Just beware.-The option of being able to select different heads is a big plus allowing you to customize your snaking based on the type of clog.-The difference between this line and the traditional hand / drill power snake line is considerable. This one has girth to it. You have so much more confidence that this will get the job done!- This is not a product that ships immediately. If you need a unit right away, forget about it!- It arrived pretty much already assembled. I only had to attach the wheels.- The instructions do not clearly define parts of drum operation and provide no instructions for attaching wheels; there are two types of wheels and you have to ‘figure it out.’- One of the cutter heads (C-Cutter) broke off inside the sewer line. I’m guessing it was a combination of pipes being too narrow to navigate a turn in the line and poor quality cutter blade. (Hope this doesn’t come back to haunt me later.)- While everyone suggests wearing gloves, I would add… goggles, face mask and a long sleeve shirt and long pants. That sewer guck will sling during operations.- When retracting line into drum note that the drum leaks. Place rags/towels under drum to catch this water.- When ordering make sure you take care to note the size of the pipes you will be servicing. This unit, for example, will not fit through a P-Trap; I had to go directly into the wall pipe. In addition I think the C cutter broke off because it was too big to maneuver curves in my line.- After it’s all said and done, I’m good because my line is now clear and I still have a decent unit to address any future clogs!

Garbage
Cable will kink and tangle all the time you are using this machine! Very dangerous! Manual feed means your hands have to stay on the cable and you will fight with it the whole time! Drum keeps running for a bit after you let off the foot switch so kinks are even worse and can't be stopped (defective switch?) As soon as you hit anything in the pipe an immediate massive kink develops. This machine shouldn't even be sold in my opinion. Kinks can travel back into the drum and tangle the cable up! Saving money on this POS isn't worth losing a finger or two!

Works great!
Gets out tough clogs. Roots grow back in my sewer line every year. Now I can clean it out myself and save a service call.
